Sydney (Consulate Press Release, 31 Dec 2013): Alhamdulillhah, the funeral prayers of both
the Pakistani students, who expired in the fatal road accident on New Castle-Sydney Motorway (M1) in Australia on 26 December 2013, were performed TODAY (Tuesday, 31 December 2013) in Sydney on 31 December 2013, as per religious sensitivities of each deceased, after obtaining consent of their families. The janazah namaz of deceased Azhar Iqbal was held in Lakemba Masjid Sydney at 1 pm while the funeral prayer of deceased Mohsin Raza was held in Al Zahra Masjid Arncliffe Sydney at 2 pm. Mr. Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Consul General Pakistan in Sydney, Sardar Balakhh Sher Khosa, CWA, other staff of the Consulate General, community leaders and members of Pakistani / Muslim community, friends and relatives of the deceased, participated in both the janazahprayers. His Excellency Abdul Maalik Abdullah, Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Canberra supervised the entire proce
edings and offered his condolences to the bereaved families.
The Funeral Director handed over the dead bodies to Emirates Airlines for their transportation to Pakistan TONIGHT as per details given below:

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has assigned the responsibility to its Regional Chiefs in Karachi and Lahore to arrange the vehicle / ambulance at OFP expense, receive the dead bodies and transport them to the funeral place / home of the deceased in Karachi / Kamalia (Distt. Toba Tek Singh) in coordination with the respective bereaved families.
It is expected that after funeral prayer of Azhar Iqbal in Karachi on 1 January 2014 and janazah namaz of Mohsin Raza in Kamalia on 2 January 2014, they will be buried and laid to rest by the respective families.
May Allah rest the departed souls in eternal peace in Jannat ul Firdaus and give patience to the bereaved families who lost their beloved ones in the fatal road accident. Let us recite surah fateha once, surah ikhlas thrice and darood shareef once for the maghferat of the deceased.
